Brother Baker is a scholar in psychology. In this workshop, he will teach and help you apply principles for developing emotional intelligence and mental stamina to confront and engage optimistically with life’s opportunities and challenges.

Sister Silcox has to rely constantly on the Spirit to fulfill her calling and in her various roles outside the church. In this workshop, she will teach principles on how to learn to hear the voice of the Spirit so you too can receive guidance throughout your life.

In preparation for our workshop...

- please think about 1-2 experiences where you know the Holy Ghost spoke (inspired, warned, etc.) to you.

- Next, please read in the Bible Dictionary: Holy Ghost and Revelation.

- Also, read 3 Nephi 11.

- Finally, read President Eyring short article “Prophecy and Personal Revelation” in the April 2016 Ensign.

- The only material needed for the workshop is your scriptures.

Brother Riddle has taught secondary English Language Arts before coming to Stan State to be a teacher educator. He loved helping his students learn how to argue and debate in ways that can improve their lives. In this workshop, he will teach you basic principles for having an argument or debate and show you how to apply those principles in your church callings, family councils, and workplaces.

Brother and Sister Sedgwick are physical trainers and enjoy keeping fit and helping others do so. In this workshop, they will teach you how to do a HIIT workout and the benefits of doing so.

Spiritual - Self Reliance: Go and Bake!

Dorothy is a master bread maker! Imagin being able to rely on yourself to make a warm loaf of delicious bread. With their instruction, you will taking your own loaf of artisan bread reight out of your oven at the end of the workshop! Throughout the process, principles of self-reliance will be discussed. Certainly, one of the things the Lord wants us to learn during these perplexing times is how to become spiritually self-reliant.

 

2 hours before this workshop, that’s by 12 pm, do steps 1 and 2      

Ingredients                                                                                               

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour     

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast    

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 ½  cups warm water

Step 1: In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until incorporated.​

Step 2: Cover a dish towel or plastic wrap. Let rise at room temperature for 2 hours.​

 

For the workshop you will also need :

  • Cookie sheet

  • Oven proof bowl

  • Extra flour

  • Cooking spray or shortening

  • Serrated knife

Spiritual - A Day in the Life of a Missionary

Elder Yniquez was first assigned to serve in Brazil and then after returning home due to the pandemic has was reassigned to serve in the Eugene, Oregon Mission. since May of this year.  He will share what life is like for him in the mission field, lessons he has learned, a couple of spiritual experiences, and take any questions you have about what it is like to be a missionary.  Elder Yniquez is from the Turlock 2nd Ward and all who know him admire his enthusiasm for the gospel and his heartfelt testimony.  What a blessing to be able to connect with him, a missionary from our very own stake!

Come prepared with any questions you would like to ask him about missionary life.

Ciao! Now it's time to make the besciamella (white sauce) and assemble our lasagna with the ragu you made the day before. After this workshop, you can put your lasagna in the oven, turn on some Italian music, and then treat your famiglia to an authentic Italian dinner.  Buon Appetito!

Ingredients Needed:

- Ragu (made in Part 1)

- Butter

- All Purpose White Flour

- Milk

- Nutmeg (optional)

- Oven Ready Barilla Noodles (flat pasta not frilly) - 2 boxes. See product HERE.

- Mozzarella Cheese - shredded

- Parmesan Cheese

- Smoked Ham (click HERE for an example) - cut into 1" squares.
